Los Angeles, CA – March 17, 2025 – The Alliance Against the Islamic Regime of Iran Apologists (AAIRIA) calls for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Seyed Hossein Mousavian for his direct role in Iran’s state-sponsored assassinations across Europe. While serving as Iran’s ambassador to Germany from 1990 to 1997, Mousavian oversaw and facilitated the Islamic Republic’s murder of at least 24 dissidents on European soil, including:
- Fereydoun Farrokhzad, assassinated in Bonn, Germany (1992)
- The Mykonos Restaurant assassinations in Berlin (1992), where Kurdish opposition leaders were gunned down
- Dr. Abdul Rahman Ghasemlou, murdered in Vienna, Austria (1989)
- Dr. Rajavi, executed in Switzerland (1990)
Newly revealed confessions by Mohsen Rafiqdoost, a former high-ranking IRGC official, expose the Islamic Republic’s financial infrastructure for funding these killings. In his interview, Rafiqdoost admitted that the IRGC maintained a secret account at Bank Saderat in Frankfurt, Germany, to launder bribe money and finance assassinations abroad. He explicitly stated that this account was used to fund the murders of Iranian dissidents targeted by the regime.
Mousavian must be held accountable not only for overseeing these assassinations but also for his role in the Iranian regime’s deception campaign to lure dissidents back under false promises of safety—only for them to be murdered in Iran’s “Chain Murders” operation. Victims of this scheme include:
- Majid Sharif, an Iranian writer and intellectual who returned to Iran from France and was later murdered in Tehran
- Javad Safar, who was tricked into returning to Iran from the Netherlands and subsequently killed
- Countless Iranian dissidents executed after being promised safe passage home
Despite his direct complicity in Iran’s global terror network, Mousavian has escaped justice and now enjoys academic legitimacy at Princeton University. His continued presence in the West is an insult to the families of the victims and a stain on the institutions that host him.
Given Seyed Hossein Mousavian’s direct involvement in orchestrating and covering up the Iranian regime’s transnational assassinations, AAIRIA demands the following immediate actions:
- The German government must reopen investigations into Farrokhzad’s murder and prosecute Mousavian for his role in the Mykonos assassinations.
- Austrian and Swiss authorities must investigate his involvement in the murders of Dr. Ghasemlou and Dr. Rajavi.
- The U.S. government must revoke his visa and consider extradition for his complicity in terrorism and human rights violations.
Mousavian is not an academic. He is not a diplomat. He is a henchman of the Islamic Republic, directly responsible for the assassination of Iranian dissidents and intellectuals worldwide. Justice demands his arrest. For media inquiries, please contact:
